| 1. The Civil Rights Act was greatly
influenced by Kings i have a dream
speech and the Bringham
March on Washington | History.Com | The Civil Rights Act was a begging the the success that African Americans would achieve by non-voilently voicing their concerns and rights as people to ultimately achieve Worldly equality. |
| 2.African Americans used sit-ins, freedom rides, and protest marches to fight segregation, poverty, and unemployment. Feminists demanded equal job opportunities and an end to sexual discrimination. Mexican Americans protested discrimination in voting, education, and employment. Native Americans demanded that the government recognize their land claims and the right of tribes to govern themselves. Environmentalists demanded legislation to control the amount of pollution released into the environment. | DigitalHistory.com | I found this interesting because it brings into perspective all of the rights that people were fighting for during the 60's. when people think about the Civil Rights ages the generally associate it with African Americans fighting for their freedom but as we can see her there were many social and ethnic groups that were working towards a better future. |
| 3. Although the majority of Civil Rights groups were non-violent, there were militant groups such as the "Black Panthers" who's strategy of picking up the gun" were prompted by unfair treatment and who's goal was to create a global realization of there capabilities so they may gain equal rights. | History.com | This is important because the black panthers and other group like them were so prominent during the civil rights movement. Alongside symbolic leaders such as MLK they fought for the same reason but with different Strategies. |
